ARTISTS OF HUTTON HOUSE

Walking through the main corridor of Hutton house gives you an amazing feeling of being in a painting exhibition. On either side of the main hallway, one can see beautiful paintings in oil, crayons and pencil. I was surprised that these artworks are done by participants of this organization.  I find these paintings as a true blend of passion, love and innocence. I feel that these walls are proud to be adorned with these beautiful works by our participants.

In this article, I will introduce a few of our best painters, their works and motivation. It has been wonderful knowing them and their inspiration. Hutton House has always stood with our participants in fulfilling their dreams and passion. These paintings are a great example of that.
Elizabeth Claire Dyet is a born artist with the talent to paint human characters. She loves giving life to her favourite colours using paint. Colour is the medium which Claire uses to communicate about her favourites and dreams. Her paintings are colourful, detailed and carefully sketched and reworked many times before she applies the acrylic paint to the canvas. Her favourite one so far has been ‘The mask’ because of the patterns involved. Jim Carrey would be proud if he could see this.
This painting of Leonardo DiCaprio left everyone in here awestruck as it is the first time one of our participants has taken her passion for painting a step forward. In DiCaprio’s painting, Claire has shown her respect and love for the talented actor in every tinge of paint. When Bob Saget,
American stand-up comedianactor, and television host was turned into a painting, Claire surprised us again with her unbeatable skill and taste for painting. She enjoys each second of painting from mixing colours to portraying the faces.
Hutton House’s first annual Marilyn Neufeld Lifelong Learning Award winner Faye Simmons is another talented artist who has an exceptional ability to paint with her fingers. Dipping her little fingers in paint, she loves the feeling it makes. When Faye isn’t painting, she is often volunteering in our Adult Education program. She takes on new challenges and puts a lot of thought into the best way to meet each learner’s needs. She tries new, innovative strategies seeking out a variety of resources, shares information on adaptive technology with staff, takes on additional duties and finds ways around her own challenges.
“I get inspiration from their respective armies. They are Pokémon, Ugio, Bleach, Gundam and Dragon creatures; fitting the pieces together to make other creatures.” Kody Pickering’s paintings are mainly animated figures. He has a peculiar fascination for Bankai beasts and swords. I am not interested in anime, but this painting caught my attention. Later when I googled the character, I could compare the resemblance of Kody’s painting and the real one.

There are much more artistic talents in Hutton house. We support them to achieve their goal and nourish their passion.
